In our Introduction course (A0), your au pair will learn about the Dutch language and culture by exploring all sorts of themes and subjects. Besides learning to speak Dutch, she can learn something about Dutch practices and customs. Au pairs meet each other and share experiences. They will learn Dutch together by playing games, listening to stories and completing texts.
Each lesson deals with a grammatical subject alternated with plenty of games related to the theme of that lesson.
The course consists of 8 lessons of 2 hours in the morning (9.30-11.30 AM) or in the evening (7.15 – 9.15 PM).
Every week, there will be homework. This homework is done partly in the workbook and partly online on the e-learning platform. This takes the student about 2,5 hours time. The total study load is around 5 hours per week.
At the end of the course, all students do an exam. Those who attend at least 80% of the classes receive a certificate of participation. The final session is an exam. Those who complete the exam are provided with an exam result and advice for the next course.
If your au pair is native German or Afrikaans, we advise to choose the Beginners Plus course.
Personal attention for the au pairs is important. The maximum number of participants is therefore 8.
The textbook ‘Kom even binnen’ is provided for the first lesson.
